On 3/20/2010, Metropolis' very own Karaoke Live! rocked the JW Marriott helping the Orlando Magic raise money for The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation. Guests made donations to the cause which resulted in singing with the band and Special Guest Stars; Dwight Howard, Bo Outlaw and Joey Fatone. It was a fun filled evening for a good cause. On March 1st, 2010, Metropolis Productions partnered with a local Destination Management company, and produced a fast paced, high energy "Olympic" themed session opener for REMAX, International. The production included some of our specialties.... Power Skips, Stilts, Dancers, Flags, Tramp Boards, Skiers and a colorful Client Reveal. Check out some clips from Guests that attended.
Winter 2007, Metropolis met with the a local Orlando Theme Park and discussed an amazing new concept, “Live Band” Karaoke. Although this concept had been attempted before, the goal was to take it to the next level and create something that was “Theme Park” worthy, without losing the “Club” feel. The Metropolis Creative team had already been working on “Karaoke Live” a corporate version of this same concept for almost a year, so they were ahead of the game with “figuring it out”. In mid January, Metropolis was awarded the contract, with an almost impossible Grand Opening Date. 18 hour days, 12 day weeks, and 32 bottles of Advil later, we met the challenge head on and kicked some Karaoke butt. The foundation of the show is a 4 piece Rhythm Section, (2) Background singer/dancers and a Lead Singer/Host. The show is housed in one of the most amazing small performance venues in Orlando, with a state of the art Audio System, that could make anyone sound good! Yes ANYONE! After too many years, we are proud to introduce the unveiling of our New and Improved Company website. This new site will allow for ease of use and information gathering, along with keeping you updated to the new things that we are working on.
It was announced last month that Metropolis Productions has been nominated for “Entertainment Company of the Year” for the 2009 Event Solutions Spotlight Awards. The awards ceremony will take place in Las Vegas, in February 2009, where the winner will be announced. All Nominees are preparing their submissions and the finalists will be notified early October. If we receive a finalist spot, voting opens ONLINE at www.event-solutions.com where you can log on and vote. Our fingers are crossed and we will keep you posted.
In December 2007, Metropolis Productions was asked to bid on providing the Acro-Dancers performers for the “BLOCK PARTY BASH” Parade, which was being moved from the California theme park, to the Hollywood Studios Park, in Orlando. Multiple companies were asked to submit a proposal and then an audition of sorts. Our Metropolis Team decided to create Our “own” version of the parade to show the Disney judges that not only did we already have the skills this show required, but that the performers of Aerial Adrenaline, are fantastic PERFORMERS! We invited them to our facility where we literally paraded them from the front of the Gym to the back (200 feet), with a choreographed routine that included Street/Jump Rope Dancers, Tumblers, Stilts, Acro Skips and Trampolines. They must have liked what they saw, as Metropolis was awarded the contract and have been Parading ever since. If you get a chance, stop by Hollywood Studios and and give a shout of support to the Aerial Adrenaline team, along with the Disney Cast of Characters and Dancers. Parade steps off is daily at 3PM, Rain or Shine. P.S. Take a good look at the Green Army Men driving the floats, their uniforms were made right here, by the Metropolis Costuming Department.
